The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist reports to the Director of Pharmacy Services and indirectly to a Senior Clinical Pharmacist Specialist. This role coordinates pharmacy clinical programs, including pharmacoeconomics, pharmacotherapeutics, pharmaceutical care, and drug information services. The specialist collaborates with multidisciplinary caregivers to optimize medication use in their area of specialization, considering the aging process and developmental stages of patients. They serve as a subject matter expert and a go-to resource in their specialty, participating in the development of therapeutic drug policies and implementing strategies to manage drug costs. The role also involves monitoring pharmacy clinical services through continuous quality improvement activities to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded, and participating in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and budgets for Pharmacy Services and clinical practice settings.
