About The Position

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to provide clinical pharmacy services primarily for ambulatory oncology patients. Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will be primarily responsible for medication management of patients in ambulatory setting and for ensuring safe and effective medication use, including chemotherapy, chemotherapy orders review and verification, medication therapy management including symptom management, therapeutic drug monitoring, and patient and patient’s caregivers education. Clinical Pharmacist Specialist also will serve as a drug information resource to medical team and be responsible for developing and implementing pharmacy programs and various quality, safety, and cost savings initiatives. Responsibilities also include participation in the development, provision, and evaluation of comprehensive pharmaceutical care standard operating procedures, treatment guidelines, and order sets, and participation in clinical research. There will be ample teaching opportunities available such as precepting pharmacy students, PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy residents, contributing to residency program advancement and growth, and providing educational lectures for medical and pharmacy staff. The starting salary for this position is $138,234 with an additional geographic differential of $6,007. This includes a full comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • License to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of New York
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree; or
  • Master’s degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time clinical pharmacy or pharmacy-related experience.
  • Incumbents must be credentialed as a member of the organization Medical Staff (Allied Health Professional) within four months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
  • Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a PGY-2 Oncology Pharmacy Practice Residency or Completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Practice Residency with a minimum of 1 year of oncology pharmacy experience; or
  • Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with a minimum of 2 years of oncology pharmacy experience; or
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with a minimum of 4 years of oncology pharmacy practice experience.
  • Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy (BCOP)
  • Demonstrated experience in both practical and didactic training of pharmacy students and residents.
