About The Position

This position implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policies and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal. The role involves compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. The Clinical Pharmacist will also analyze prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions, and maintain various records. Additionally, they will advise customers on medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies, and adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures.

Requirements

Pharm.D. degree
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Responsibilities

Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages.
Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability.
Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions.
Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
