Key responsibilities include prospective audit and feedback, interpretation of microbiologic results, and providing patient-centered recommendations for antimicrobial regimen optimization aimed at improving clinical outcomes while minimizing antimicrobial resistance, medication-related toxicities, and other unintended patient harms. Additional responsibilities include development and implementation of clinical guidelines, workflows, as well as support for regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and quality improvement initiatives.
