About The Position

This is a virtual eligible role for a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in Analytics. The position is responsible for managing the selection and utilization of pharmaceuticals and supports core clinical programs such as DUR, DIS, and formulary management. It is not a dispensing role, but rather an analytics-focused position. The role involves researching and synthesizing clinical data, preparing therapeutic class reviews and drug monographs for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and potentially reviewing and approving/denying pharmaceutical coverage based on medical necessity criteria. The Clinical Pharmacist will also serve as a clinical resource to other pharmacists for DURs and provide dosage conversion and clinical support for therapeutic interventions, as well as prepare information for network physicians.

Requirements

  • Requires BA/BS in Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 2 years of managed care pharmacy (PBM) experience or residency in lieu of work experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Requires a registered pharmacist.
  • Current unrestricted Pharmacist license from the state in which you reside is required.
  • For associates working within Puerto Rico who are member or patient facing either in a clinical setting or in the Best Transportation unit, a current PR health certificate and a current PR Law 300 certificate are required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Tableau or Power BI is absolutely essential for this role!
  • Experience working with tools like SQL, Python and R is very strongly preferred.
  • PharmD preferred.
  • Experience working with Medicare and STARS data strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the selection and utilization of pharmaceuticals.
  • Supports core clinical programs such as DUR, DIS, and formulary management.
  • Researches and synthesizes detailed clinical data related to pharmaceuticals.
  • Prepares and presents therapeutic class reviews and drug monograph information to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Reviews and approves or denies coverage for pharmaceuticals based on medical necessity criteria (as permitted by law/contracts).
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders or health plan medical directors as needed.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to other pharmacists on prospective, inpatient, and retrospective DURs.
  • Provides dosage conversion and clinical support for therapeutic interventions.
  • Prepares information for network physicians.
