Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/ Clinical Pharmacist, Adult Critical Care
About The Position
The UIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, is seeking a full-time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (Open Rank)/Clinical Pharmacist who will be assigned to UI Health’s Adult Critical Care services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at the University of Illinois Hospital. The hospital is a 450-bed academic institution located approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves an urban, indigent patient population. The Retzky College of Pharmacy, with campuses in Chicago and Rockford, is the #1 college of pharmacy in Illinois and #6 in total research grant funding, according to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
Requirements
- PharmD required.
- PGY1 residency experience required.
- PGY2 residency or fellowship in Critical Care, or a minimum of 2 years of equivalent clinical experience as a clinical pharmacist in adult critical care, is required.
- Must present evidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professional pharmacist at the time of employment.

Responsibilities
- Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
- Serve as an integral part of the MICU multidisciplinary team.
- Perform medication review, medication and dosing recommendations, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
- Provide drug information and patient education.
- Prepare medications at the bedside.
- Attend adult cardiopulmonary and rapid response events.
- Conduct nurse, physician, and pharmacy staff development programs.
- Coordinate and conduct quality improvement projects.
- Develop collaborative treatment and research protocols.
- Provide didactic lectures.
- Precept entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy students, PGY1 residents, and PGY2 residents.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including presentations and publications.
