The Clinical On-Site Specialist is responsible for maximizing organ and tissue donation through the identification and evaluation of potential donors. This position also involves the completion of related documentation and assists in the coordination of the recovery process. The specialist has shared responsibility for strengthening partner relationships and maximizing donation. The role reports to CORE’s Director, Organ Procurement Operations and includes various office and recovery duties, case follow-up, chart documentation, and assignments. The specialist will conduct identification and evaluation of potential donors on-site, communicate with on-call staff for timely decisions, interface with hospital staff to assess and influence case progression, document required medical information, and evaluate donor information to determine medical suitability for organ donation (brain dead or donation after cardiac death) with the clinical organ team and Administrator-On-Call (AOC). The position requires adherence to organizational policy, compliance with regulatory agencies, real-time case information documentation, communication of strategies with hospital and CORE staff, and coordination of supplies and equipment for the donation process. Duties also include case start-up and follow-up activities as directed by the AOC, and maintaining confidentiality of donor and recipient information. The incumbent may be assigned other job-related functions by the Director, Organ Procurement Operations and/or members of CORE’s Leadership Team.
