About The Position

Join Corewell Health’s nutrition team and support patient care by responding to calls from patients and care teams, screening patients for nutritional risk, coordinating meal selections, and educating patients with moderately complex diets. Maintain accurate patient information in the nutrition software program and help ensure patients’ nutritional needs are met. The position is based at Troy Hospital and works an evening schedule from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, with every other weekend scheduled.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of relevant experience in customer-facing service by phone or in person.
• Customer service and/or managed health care experience.
• Knowledge of elevated diets and nutrition software.
• Time management, organizational, and risk mitigation skills.
• Within 90 days, obtain either a CRT-Accredited Food Handler certification or a CRT-Accredited Food Allergy Certificate from the ANSI National Accreditation Board, or a CRT-Accredited Food Protection Manager (CFP) certification from the ANSI National Accreditation Board.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with meal selection using the appropriate menu program, emphasizing dietary restrictions and good nutrition.
• Screen patients for nutrition risk and collect diet history, allergies, and food preferences.
• Accurately maintain pertinent patient information.
• Communicate with patients and family members and consult with dietitians about special patient needs and nutrition risks.
• Assemble tray tickets according to diet orders.
• Perform clerical duties, including answering calls, taking messages, typing, faxing, and filing.
• Answer calls about patient meal choices and provide product and service information.
• Educate patients with moderately complex diets.
