About The Position

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Leadership duties: Controls, directs, and participates in the activities of the organization through a hierarchy of managers and supervisors. Responsibilities also include long-term strategic planning, determining the policies of the organization, and allocating its resources and making decisions regarding organization growth and diversification to accomplish entity's vision. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that supervises all levels of employees. Responsibilities that typically include: Setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results, problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex, and ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders. The Clinical Manager oversees the daily clinical and administrative operations of designated unit(s). The Clinical Manager prepares staff schedules, requests, and allocates resources and ensures that patient care is aligned with the goals, mission, and vision of Tufts Medicine. The PCU is a 36-bed unit for telemetry, step down, or intermediate level of care. Patients requiring peritoneal and hemodialysis, cardiac catheterizations, pacemakers, internal cardiac defibrillator placement, post-operative monitoring, and interventional radiology may be placed on PCU. Our patients receive continuous cardiac monitoring, and some may also receive continuous oxygen saturation monitoring. Patient can be on high flow oxygen, Bi-pap ventilation, and continuous cardiac Intravenous medications. The nurse patient ratio is less than on the med/surg floors, allowing patients to be more closely monitored.

Requirements

Massachusetts RN Licensure.
5 Years of RN Experience with at least 1 year as a charge/lead RN.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the director, ensures all staff maintains competency-based practice based upon patient population.
Participates in nursing research.

Supervises staff by evaluating work performance, providing guidance, and timely feedback based on outcome measures.

Recognizes, responds, and provides follow-up on issues, concerns, and suggestions on behalf of the patient population and staff.
Allocates resources and coordinates services to optimize patient care and services.
Develops and monitors operating and capital budget; implements strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Performs performance reviews with staff.
Participates in staff interview process, provides direction and discipline to staff as appropriate, and orients new staff to facility.
Creates and fosters a learning environment that facilities the professional growth and development of staff.
Develops and implements processes to enhance operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.
Develops, implements, and monitors written policies and procedures.
Leads and/or participates in hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary teams, committees, councils and special projects.
Plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of nursing care in accordance with standards of practice.
