About The Position

The Clinical Nurse provides direct patient care on a 43-bed medical/surgical unit, caring for a variety of patients using a relationship-based care philosophy. The role includes assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with nursing standards. The nurse promotes patient- and family-centered care, educates patients and families about illness or injury management and post-treatment needs, and collaborates with the interprofessional team to support safe, coordinated care. This is a part-time, day-shift position at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Less than 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Plan proactively and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
