About The Position

The Clinical Nurse/Registered Nurse works collaboratively in Holy Cross Health’s Observation Unit to provide excellent, evidence-based, individualized patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team. The role focuses on whole-person care for oncology, medical-surgical, and hospice patients. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, on the night shift, in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the Maryland State Board of Nursing or a Compact State.
BLS certification and additional life-support training as applicable to unit requirements.
At least one year of nursing experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
Competency in electronic patient management systems.
If not hired with a BSN, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain one within a specified timeframe.

Nice To Haves

Basic professional nursing degree (BSN) preferred.
BSN or MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to oncology, medical-surgical, and hospice patients.
Administer medications, including chemotherapy when certified, and monitor patients for side effects.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families.
Participate in discharge planning, pain management, and palliative care coordination.
Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the care team.
