Requirements

RN license
NICU experience (implied by role and department)
Experience in maternal child departments (Perinatology, LDR, Mother/Baby, LDRP, NICU)
Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act
Ability to perform physical assessments
Ability to administer medications
Ability to collect specimens
Ability to meet nutritional and emotional needs of patients
Ability to provide patient education and discharge planning
Knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures

Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act for assigned patients in maternal child departments including Perinatology, LDR, Mother/Baby, LDRP and NICU.
Collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care.
Provides physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional and emotional needs, and education and discharge needs of the patients assigned.
Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs.
Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions.
Maintains a working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Clinical Nurse II/III/IV is involved in Hoag Committee/Council with at least 50% attendance, communicates quarterly to UPC (Unit Practice Council) on committee/council work, and completes four supplemental activities a year.
