About The Position

As a Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center, you will work within the Telemetry / Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery Unit, providing care to individuals undergoing complex procedures such as esophagectomies, pneumonectomies, pulmonary resections, and vascular interventions. This role supports a high acuity environment where specialized post-operative care and continuous monitoring are essential. The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, an active RN license, and at least 12 months of recent experience in a medical/surgical, telemetry, or ICU setting. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure
  • Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire
  • At least 12 months of recent experience in a medical/surgical, telemetry, or ICU setting.
  • All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs and determine required nursing and multidisciplinary interventions
  • Provide care using clinical competency, compassion, and adherence to safety practices
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and manage emergency situations
  • Use technology and clinical systems to support patient care
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, patients, and families to plan and evaluate care
  • Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning and coordinated services
  • Serve as an advocate to uphold patient rights
  • Document care according to established standards
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from electronic systems
  • Train, coach, and assist team members to promote efficient use of resources
  • Participate in assisting team workflow and patient care priorities
  • Integrate findings from research studies into practice
  • Participate in data collection for ongoing studies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
