About The Position

In collaboration with the health care team, the Clinical Nurse Specialist provides expert family-centered clinical care and clinical consultation within her/his area of expertise to improve outcomes and to promote integrated health care that is safe, equitable, timely, effective, and efficient.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Nursing - Required
  • Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities.

  • Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatrics (ACCNS-P) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - upon hire - Required or Acute Care Neonatal Clinical Nurse Specialist (ACCNS-N) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - upon hire - Required
  • Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CCNS) - American Association of Critical Care Nurses - upon hire - Required or Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification (PCNS-BC) - American Nurses Credentialing Center - upon hire - Required
  • Specialty Certification - as a pediatric clinical nurse specialist or clinical nurse specialist in specialty area of practice. - upon hire - Required

Responsibilities

  • Manages the care of complex and/or vulnerable populations through expert direct care, care coordination, and collaboration with patients and families and other members of the health care team.
  • Supports other members of the health care team, including nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals through collaborative clinical practice, education, research/evidence-based practice, and consultation.
  • Facilitates change and innovation for patients/populations within the department, the health care system, and the community.
  • Participates in scholarly activities including research and evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrates health care informatics competencies to manage patient care, outcome data, and current and emerging health care technology.
