About The Position

This is a rural health clinic that specializes in the care of women. Nurses working in this clinic will gain a wealth of knowledge and technical skills in managing low risk and moderate risk pregnancies, well health annual women physicals, and pre and post-surgical patients like C-sections, hysterectomies and laparoscopies. Our patients sometimes have complex health problems that gives the nurse an opportunity to gain increasing knowledge of medical and surgical skills they would not see in other clinics. Some other patient diagnosis that we manage in this clinic are : fertility counseling and treatments, menstrual problems, pelvic pain, Endometriosis and abnormal pap smears, just to name a few. The nurse in this clinic will be responsible for assessment, ordering images and labs for patients, planning of surgery cases, authorizing procedures and surgeries and providing education.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic typing and word processing ability required

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
  • Performs preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
  • Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
  • Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
  • Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to whom care delegated.
  • Demonstrates the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care.
  • Identifies teach/learning needs of patient.
  • Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with health care needs.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of patient and family teaching and makes documentation in patient’s charts.
  • Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
  • Completes necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders and obtains physicians signatures as appropriate).
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
