D1 is a 17-bed medical/oncology ICU that specializes in the care of critically ill adult oncology, hematology, bone marrow transplant and medical patients. Common diagnoses include sepsis, respiratory failure, multisystem organ failure, acute liver and kidney failure, and end-of-life care. Nurses specialize in the care of patients with complications from CAR-T therapy, chemotherapy, and BMT, such as cytokine release syndrome, tumor lysis syndrome and neutropenic sepsis. Nurses receive training in continuous renal replacement therapy and may become chemotherapy certified.
