About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Resource serves as a vital member of the Indiana University Health system float pool, embodying the mission, vision, and values of IU Health. Reflects a commitment to excellence, integrity, and compassionate care, while adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance standards, and all relevant policies, procedures, and accreditation requirements. Accountable for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care across the continuum—from assessment and diagnosis to outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Actively participates in clinical decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to advance patient care plans, achieve optimal outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency. Adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, ensuring professional integrity and high-quality care in every setting. Requires system-wide flexibility & clinical versatility to provide essential coverage across a wide range of inpatient settings—including medical-surgical, progressive care, critical care, emergency, and specialty units—based on real-time staffing needs and patient acuity. Requires the ability to float seamlessly between multiple IU Health facilities, offering a unique opportunity to expand clinical expertise, build cross-functional relationships, and support care delivery across the system.

Requirements

  • Associates of Nursing (ASN)
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - must be obtained prior to the start of unit orientation.
  • Highly adaptable, confident, and skilled in managing change.
  • Experienced in multiple specialties or eager to broaden clinical scope.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent critical thinking and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) required for those newly hired or promoted into the position after October 1, 2025.
  • 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
