About The Position

Provides direct patient care in a 30-bed mother-baby postpartum unit, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with nursing standards. The unit cares for routine deliveries and high-risk pregnancy complications, including hypertension, cardiac problems, and postpartum hemorrhage. Nurses receive extensive orientation and attend classes, and can collaborate with a dedicated lactation team to support breastfeeding mothers. Opportunities are available to participate in nursing committees and other activities beyond direct patient care. This is a safety-sensitive role requiring the ability to remain alert and work safely.

Requirements

• Nursing diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Less than two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver.
• Proactively plan and communicate the care plan across the continuum of care.
• Assess and evaluate patients’ physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to participation in care, including values and emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
