About The Position

The Clinical Nurse-Perioperative (IRP) is a nurse with at least two years of experience with a minimum of one year experience in a specialty area (e.g. Critical Care and Emergency Care) and is classified as a per diem employee and works less than an average of 24 hours per week. May work in any licensed facility under Loma Linda University Health (LLUH). Submits work schedule availability and preferred department(s) within designated time frames. Functions in a patient-centered care model of practice and performs the nursing process independently. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in an area of specialty. Embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Utilizes discretion and independent judgment in applying the nursing process to the provision of age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. Functions in a skills mix environment and directly supervises and delegates tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. Meets qualifications, licensure/certifications, and competencies as defined in the unit/department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. May be required to serve in shift coordinator role upon completion of shift coordinator orientation. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience in specialty area (e.g. critical care or emergency care) required.
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or enrolled in BSN program preferred.
  • Spanish preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association as required in the Department Plan for Providing Care and may be obtained during orientation process.
