About The Position

The Nursing Resource Pool is seeking experienced Clinical Nurses who are flexible and willing to float to Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Interventional Radiology (IR). Orientation will be provided to ensure competency across specialty areas. The ideal candidate will possess a BSN degree and at least two years of experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Medical/Surgical settings. This role involves floating to PACU and IR, as well as Hematology, Surgical, and Medical cohorts during periods of decreased ICU census. Both day (7am-7pm) and night (7pm-7am) shifts are available, with rotating weekends and holidays. The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) offers experienced Oncology nurses opportunities in a friendly, team-oriented environment, assisting the hospital by filling staffing needs on various units on a shift-to-shift basis. NRP staff are flexible and trained to provide safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care in a constantly changing environment with varying census and acuity. They care for a diverse range of patients in different settings. Notably, 42% of NRP registered nurses hold OCN certification, and NRP nurses also possess certifications in pediatric oncology, pain management, critical care, radiology, and medical-surgical. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160). Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area.
  • Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.
  • Participates in data collection for current studies.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.
  • Documents care according to established standards.
  • Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems.
  • Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.
  • Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights.
  • Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.
