Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services include not only basic medical care but also dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs. Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is hiring for a Clinical Nurse Manager! The Clinical Nurse Manager will manage a clinic and/or department by supervising nurses and other personnel, scheduling, performing nursing duties, ensuring policy adherence, attending meetings, developing services, acting as a patient services advocate, and collaborating with other professionals. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Oklahoma or a current multistate license from a Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) member state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association are required in the first six months.
  • Minimum three years of experience as a practicing professional nurse (RN).
  • Experience to include hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and daily operation supervision.
  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience in tracking, trending, and analyzing clinical performance data preferred.
  • Previous nursing leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and assess patients' clinical conditions, recognize, identify, and interpret emergency situations, and take appropriate action.
  • Formulate nursing diagnosis as appropriate, develop a plan for care for individual patients, and evaluate patient response to intervention.
  • Coordinate and manage communication with patients, family, and the health care team.
  • Ensure that services support quality patient communication, education, financial, and tribal components.
  • Communicate with a primary health care provider/health care team.
  • Provide patient education regarding the purpose of treatments, medications, disease process, and any other necessary educational needs.
  • Assess patient needs to coordinate and manage patient care within the clinic, including triage and scheduling patients' appointments.
  • Operate and ensure adequate supplies, medications, and pharmaceutical supplies are available for patient treatment.
  • Administer therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, such as medications, wound and ear irrigations, etc.
  • Participate in assigned duties as designated by the VP of Nursing and/or Director of Nursing to include, but not limited to, participation on designated committees, inspection of equipment, and refrigerator logs.
  • Direct employee performance management and provide ongoing education opportunities for staff members.
  • Participate in the fiscal management of the unit/department.
  • Responsible for overall management of the staffing schedule of the assigned department. May participate in a rotating staffing schedule within the Nursing Service Line.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice for the assigned department as well as local, state, and federal regulatory agencies' standards.
  • Implement, review, interpret, and revise all relevant Oklahoma City Indian Clinic and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Clinic's vision and mission and guidelines of health and regulatory agencies such as the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Lead the organization to and through best evidence practices.
  • Coach employees and handle corrective action if warranted, per policy.
  • Attend and participate in leadership, departmental, and interdepartmental meetings (includes web and telephone as necessary).
  • Follow through on assigned action items to satisfactory completion.
  • Revise new Nursing policies and coordinate with organizational policies. Participate in the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Communicate policies and procedures for all OKCIC staff.
  • Promote compliance with Nursing policies and procedures and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Implement and ensure the success of clinic processes leading to quality outcomes as related to defined population health initiatives.
  • Aim to improve the overall health of the communities we serve.
  • Volunteer in our community-based programs.
  • Participate in identifying grants and/or developing grants to serve our community needs.
  • Review, document, and report required elements of a variety of programs to the appropriate entities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to obtain accrued charges, coding, or other information needed for the resolution of the account.
  • Identify and analyze problems or potential problematic situations and distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information to construct logical solutions for the best possible outcome.
  • Communicate concerns to the Clinic leadership (VP of Nursing and/or Director) in a timely manner consistent with the magnitude of the situation.
  • Exercise good judgment by making timely, well-informed, and effective decisions even when data is limited or solutions produce unpleasant consequences.
  • Manage and resolve conflict and disagreements in a positive and constructive manner, utilizing coaching when needed to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Participate in monitoring and improving relevant outcome measures and/or quality improvement indicators.
  • Participate in improving clinic quality measures (GPRA).
