This position is a key leadership role within the Sheriff's Office's Medical Branch, responsible for managing 24/7 nursing operations at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC). The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, innovative, and proven nursing leader with expertise in acute, behavioral, and public health nursing. This role offers opportunities for leadership, advocacy, and making a significant impact on the health of vulnerable individuals within the community. The position involves coordinating nursing activities to ensure compliance with medical orders and agency policies, participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing services, and interpreting and teaching accrediting agency standards to staff. Responsibilities include direct management of staff, including assigning caseloads, reviewing reports, evaluating performance, training, supervision, monitoring conduct, and initiating disciplinary action. The role also involves establishing work schedules for 24/7 coverage, assessing training needs, coordinating workforce development, and developing evaluation tools. Collaboration with the medical services leadership team is crucial for investigating and responding to inmate health care complaints and grievances. The Clinical Nurse Manager will consult with internal and external providers, communicate with inmates' families when necessary, and ensure adherence to health care standards set by various governing bodies. This position serves as a resource nurse for health care team supervisors, ensuring operational goals are met and that designated staff participate in key meetings and hearings. The salary offer will be within the minimum to midpoint range of $94,934.11 to $130,534.56, not exceeding the midpoint. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for fully qualified new county employees, requiring a signed payback agreement.
