About The Position

Corewell Health Dearborn Hospital is seeking skilled and motivated nurse leaders for leadership roles. These roles offer the opportunity to influence day-to-day operations while shaping long-term culture, quality outcomes, and staff development. The position is for a Clinical Nurse Manager in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The 30-bed Level III NICU provides a collaborative, team-oriented environment for critically ill newborns, supported 24/7 by a neonatologist and neonatal nurse practitioner. NICU nurses are integral to hospital-wide nursing councils and attend high-risk deliveries. They also participate in inter-facility infant transports. This role is ideal for passionate neonatal care nurses who thrive in fast-paced settings and value teamwork and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience
  • Two years of demonstrated informal leadership experience for internal candidates (e.g., Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, participation in Shared Governance Councils)
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Two to three years of formal nursing leadership experience (external candidates)

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • CCRN (Neonatal) within one year
  • NICU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains 24-hour accountability for leadership and management of a designated patient care unit.
  • Promotes high-quality nursing care, cost-effective resource utilization, staff professional development, and a Patient- and Family-Centered Care culture.
  • Ensures the safe and effective delivery of patient care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a key advocate for safety and retention, leveraging data, technology, and evidence-based practices to drive decision-making and proactively mitigate risk.
  • Fosters a desirable and supportive work environment that enables staff and the organization to meet or exceed strategic goals.
  • Models effective communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and interdisciplinary partners.
  • Attends high-risk deliveries in the labor and delivery unit.
  • Assists in the transport of infants from surrounding hospitals.
