About The Position

The Clinical Nurse Manager oversees the Emergency Departments at both Big Rapids and Reed City hospitals, providing strategic, operational, and clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered emergency care. The Big Rapids Emergency Department is a community-based facility within the Corewell Health system and is both a Certified Primary Stroke Center and a Level IV Trauma Center. The department features 20 treatment spaces capable of managing everything from minor illnesses to complex medical and traumatic emergencies. With more than 27,000 visits annually, the Big Rapids ED consistently ranks highly in patient experience and throughput. Our interdisciplinary teams collaborate closely to deliver relationship-based care, and we strongly value teamwork, continuous improvement, and a positive team culture. The Reed City Emergency Department is also a community-based Corewell Health facility with 20 treatment spaces designed to care for a wide range of medical and traumatic emergencies. Interdisciplinary collaboration is central to how care is delivered, ensuring patients and their loved ones feel supported throughout their visit. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) Required.
  • 2 years of relevant clinical nursing experience Required.
  • 1 years of recent relevant leadership Required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required.
  • AHA Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Required within 90 days.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Required within 90 days.
  • AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Required within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree MS, MSN, MBS, MM, MHA, MPH Preferred.
  • Nurse Managers in inpatient and outpatient units are REQUIRED to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes 24-hour accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing services/ unit of the hospital.
  • Develops policies, procedures and processes in coordination with other leaders to ensure the highest quality services are provided at all times to all customers.
  • Assures presence of a supportive and healthy work environment that promotes retention and embraces diversity.
  • Key responsibilities include unit based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, human resource development, performance improvement, supports a culture of safety and maintenance of interprofessional collaborative relationships.
