Clinical Nurse II: Medical Oncology Specialty Clinic
About The Position
The Clinical Nurse II role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned. Additionally, the Clinical Nurse II meets the requirements outlined in the Clinical Ladder program respective to his/her department. The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates a commitment to hospital involvement and professional growth by participating in committees, attending related meetings, and presenting education projects and/or supplemental activities. For Outpatient Treatment Infusion Centers (Oncology and Non-Oncology), the role administers Chemotherapy/Biotherapy/Immunotherapy.
Requirements
- Direct patient care experience on Medical/Surgical units.
- Adherence to the Nurse Practice Act.
- Proficiency in physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching/discharge needs.
- Utilization of the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices.
- Ability to evaluate and adjust nursing care processes.
- Consultation with appropriate resource personnel for ethical/legal/medical dilemmas.
- Meeting requirements of the Clinical Ladder program.
- Commitment to hospital involvement and professional growth.
- Participation in committees and related meetings.
- Presentation of education projects and/or supplemental activities.
- Administration of Chemotherapy/Biotherapy/Immunotherapy (for Outpatient Treatment Infusion Centers).
