About The Position

The BIDMC Clinical Research Center serves as a dedicated research unit at BIDMC, supporting ambulatory and overnight research activity. The Clinical Research Center (CRC) provides the staff, environment and resources to carry out medical research studies for investigators in all clinical disciplines at BIDMC. The CRC is a resource to investigators providing excellent clinical research nursing, specialized testing, a research bionutrition program, and clinical research coordination assistance. Using modern techniques of study design, data acquisition, and data analysis, research protocols are implemented, while maintaining the high standard of patient care for which the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is known. The staff of the Clinical Research Center use a collaborative practice model designed to respond to the care requirements of the CRC patient population, which currently range from late adolescents to frail elders. Staff may carry out studies throughout the medical center, and in the local community. Clinical Research Nurses will interact with patients within the context of the research protocol, assuring safety of research participants, and maintaining the quality and integrity of research data collection across a wide variety of clinical disciplines.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
  • License Registered Nurse required.
  • Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments.
  • Responsible for systematically assessing the health care needs of individuals or groups and for the formulation of a care plan, its implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrates the ability for decision making by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in caring for patients
  • Coordinates the care of patients and directs assistive personnel in order to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable and timely, patient-centered care.

  • Demonstrates the ability to identify resources necessary to implement the plan of care.
  • Works in a collegial and collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs of patients and families.

  • Demonstrate the ability to act as a patient advocate.
  • Maintains annual mandatory education requirements, which include emergency skills and unit based competencies.
  • Identifies needs for continued growth and development in conjunction with the unit based educator or clinical nurse specialist.

  • May participate in quality improvement activities.

  • The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
