About The Position

The Clinical Nurse II in the Neonatal ICU is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their episode of care, with a focus on progress toward discharge. This role involves delivering and coordinating patient care provided by the caregiving team, ensuring competent and compassionate care in inpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. The nurse will implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments and procedures, and document care according to company policy and regulatory requirements. They will also order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, assess patient needs and responses to care, and apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management. Additionally, the role includes providing primary and emergency care for injuries and illnesses, administering medications, and collaborating with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care. The Clinical Nurse will direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred.
  • Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
  • Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
  • Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and demonstrates ability to apply in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a PCA or other nursing assistance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
  • Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.
