About The Position

Incumbent provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in Cardiac Cath Lab, ensuring effective collaboration with the interdisciplinary teams in creation and implementation of the plan of care. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Evaluates patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge. Participates in unit related projects as needed. Serves as a role model, mentor and resource to other clinical staff in the area, and may function as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by the supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must possess skill, knowledge and ability to circulate, monitor and recover a patient undergoing a diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Moderate sedation experience.
  • Minimum 12 months recent experience working in a Cardiac Cath Lab or minimum 3 years' recent experience working in a Cardiac Critical care unit.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Current CA RN license.
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • Ability to cover call shifts (24/7).
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Skill, knowledge and ability to provide procedural nursing care during electrophysiology procedures and/or device implant procedures.
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
  • Knowledge and practical application of hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
