About The Position
The clinical nurse provides patient care to an assigned group of patients. The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age-appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Assists in patient research accrual by varied projects and reviewing patient schedules against available protocols. Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse's new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC)Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.
Requirements
- Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience in an acute care setting
- Knowledge and practice of body mechanics
- Knowledge and practice of age related acuity levels
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills
- Demonstrated knowledge in preparing and assisting Radiation Oncology procedures
- Demonstrated knowledge in Radiation Oncology treatments
- Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques
- Current California RN license
- Current BLS certification
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
- Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
Nice To Haves
- Understanding of JCAHO requirements
- Previous Radiation Oncology RN experience
- Chemotherapy Certification
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
