About The Position

The Clinical Nurse I – Perioperative role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act for assigned patients in a Perioperative unit. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely, and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of a nursing degree (Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Proficiency in physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administration, and specimen collection.
  • Understanding of nutritional needs, patient teaching, and discharge planning.
  • Familiarity with the nursing process and evidence-based best practices.
  • Ability to evaluate and adjust nursing care plans.
  • Skill in consulting with resource personnel for ethical/legal/medical dilemmas.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Perioperative unit.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (depending on unit needs).
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
