About The Position

The Clinical Nurse I – MedSurg role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid RN license in California.
  • Must have current BLS-CP certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Must have current ACLS-CP certification from the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have current PALS-CP certification from the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of acute care experience.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in vascular access (PICC/CVC) services.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in IV therapy.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in phlebotomy.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in EKG interpretation.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in wound care.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in patient education.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in pain management.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in medication administration.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in specimen collection.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in meeting nutritional needs.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in discharge planning.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in utilizing the nursing process.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in evidence-based best practices.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in evaluating and adjusting nursing care processes.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in conferring with resource personnel.
  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in ethical/legal/medical dilemma decision-making.
