About The Position

Sinai Health is looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator, Wound Care to support our Nursing Academic Practice team. As an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of corporate skin and wound education programs for the nursing and interdisciplinary team. The Clinical Nurse Educator uses adult learning theory and transformational leadership to facilitate the evaluation of education needs of the staff and in developing and teaching educational programs. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Nurse Educator will provide hands on clinical support through the provision of expert clinical consultation and care planning for complex wounds, throughout the organization. The Clinical Nurse Educator will use evidenced based guidelines and analysis of data to support the achievement of departmental and Sinai Health goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • 3 years of experience in Wound Care
  • Commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace by accountable leadership
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead change
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and independently under stressful/challenging conditions
  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Ability to utilize information technology
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Nice To Haves

  • Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) and other professional nursing related organizations
  • Recent experience in a nursing leadership position
  • Completion of Relevant specialty certificate or completion of Wound Care Education programs required e.g. Wound, Ostomy and Continence CNA Certification; International Interprofessional Wound Care Course (IIWCC-CAN?); Wound, Ostomy and Continence Education Program (WOC-EP™)

Responsibilities

  • Foster and support the philosophy, goals, standards and values of Sinai Health and Department of Nursing
  • Provide consultation and facilitate knowledge translation in complex and unpredictable clinical situations that require advanced specialized knowledge and skill
  • Maintain an environment conducive to learning and lead initiatives to promote professional growth, continuous learning and the collaborative practice of nurses to ensure patient safety and quality care
  • Use evidence informed research and outcome data to formulate, evaluate and revise: skin and wound standards of nursing practice, skin and wound practice guidelines, skin and wound educational strategies and skin and would policies and procedures
  • Provide direct, expert clinical bedside support through consultation, assessment, and supporting the management of complex wounds
  • Promote the role of the Clinical Nurse Educator through involvement in committees, professional development, academic pursuits and participation in professional associations
  • Provide leadership in promoting and maintain a positive work environment
  • Participate in quality improvement activities including development, implementation and evaluation of utilization/application of standards, policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
