About The Position

This position is primarily dayshift, some nights and weekend coverage needed as educational needs of the unit arise. The Clinical Nurse Educator will teach and demonstrate proficiency in patient physical assessment skills, patient care and nursing skills. They will reinforce policies and procedures, protocols and guidelines with nursing staff. This role coordinates nursing centered rounds and bedside reporting in conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Case Manager with an ability to phase in multidisciplinary rounds. The educator provides population specific unit educational programs in collaboration with preceptors and staff development instructors in informal, on-site settings. They ensure the quality of professional services by demonstrating and maintaining competency through updating knowledge and skills and continuing professional growth. The educator communicates in an effective, positive, and professional manner role modeling behaviors associated with Caring Science. They create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility including assisting in teaching interpretation of and developing strategies to address nurse sensitive indicators and performance improvement. Supports provision of age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with a BSN and three years' experience in area of interest required.
  • Clinical expert.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of applicable state.
  • National certification in specialty required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches and demonstrates proficiency in patient physical assessment skills, patient care and nursing skills (i.e. mobility, respiratory care, nutrition, pain management, oral care, preventing infection, lift equipment).
  • Reinforces policies and procedures, protocols and guidelines with nursing staff.
  • Coordinates nursing centered rounds and bedside reporting in conjunction with the Nurse Manager/Case Manager with an ability to phase in multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Provides population specific unit educational programs in collaboration with preceptors and staff development instructors in informal, on-site settings.
