About The Position

The Clinical Nurse B performs the nursing process with minimal supervision, utilizing discretion and independent judgment in providing age-specific and developmentally appropriate quality patient care. This role functions in a skills mix environment, directly supervising and delegating tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff. The nurse will meet defined qualifications, licensure, certifications, and competencies. They will apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice, continually expand their knowledge base and clinical skills, and utilize interpersonal skills to enhance customer service, patient care, and professionalism. The role also involves contributing to a positive work environment and performing other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) required. If hired into a Loma Linda University Health entity prior to April 1, 2020, an Associate Degree or Diploma Degree in Nursing required.
• One year of nursing experience required.
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment; perform technical patient care activities.
• Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.
• Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
• Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
