The Department of Neuropsychology at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital is pleased to announce a position opening for a full-time clinical neuropsychologist to work within the Ayer Neuroscience Institute Memory Care Center (Wethersfield, CT). The clinical neuropsychologist will join our growing team of dedicated and skilled neuropsychologists. This position is a collaboration between the Institute of Living and Hartford HealthCare’s Ayer Neuroscience Institute and reflects our commitment to embedding behavioral health services in medical settings throughout the system. The neuropsychologist is an essential member of the comprehensive care team and performs outpatient neuropsychological evaluations and consultations for adult patients with Memory Disorders/Neurodegenerative disease (i.e., Alzheimer’s disease, Frontotemporal lobar diseases, Vascular dementia, Lewy Body disease, rapidly progressive disease, etc.). The neuropsychologist works closely with the multidisciplinary team (e.g., neurology, social work, geriatric psychiatry) to promote an understanding of brain functioning and impairment, inform diagnosis, and develop an appropriate treatment plan. The neuropsychologist is adept at gathering relevant historical information, analyzing, integrating and interpreting data and findings, completing timely, detailed and accurate documentation, and providing comprehensive feedback to the team. The Department of Neuropsychology enjoys active involvement in the hospital’s rich history of training and provision of exceptional care. Departmental neuropsychologists participate in clinical care, research, training, and multidisciplinary collaboration at multiple sites within Hartford HealthCare, including the Chase Family Movement Disorders Center, Memory Care Center, Institute of Living (outpatient and inpatient psychiatry), and Hartford Hospital (medical inpatient and inpatient rehabilitation). Opportunities to participate in teaching activities and supervision of students at all levels of training exist. The Institute of Living has a deep commitment to research and education, as well as clinical care, and there are many opportunities to get involved in hospital-wide activities and initiatives. The Institute of Living also has a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary collaboration and continuing education, including weekly psychiatry Grand Rounds and numerous other educational opportunities, including departmental seminars for staff neuropsychologists and trainees.
