About The Position

This is a paid internship opportunity at Alleghany Highlands Community Services in Covington for current Master's degree students in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services. The onsite role allows direct client engagement and hands-on experience in a supportive, person-centric environment that values excellence and integrity. Requirements

Current Master's degree student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Human Services.
Understanding of the characteristics of substance use disorders, mental illness, and developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Meticulous in maintaining confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with basic office equipment, including fax machines, scanners, copiers, and telephones.
Strong communication skills.
Person-centric approach.
Must undergo a background check, including social services review, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Deepen understanding of mental health, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and developmental disabilities.
Engage with seasoned professionals to learn symptom identification, various treatment modalities, and essential assessment and diagnostic skills.
Create person-centered service plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.
