About The Position

This posting is for a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. This position is responsible to provide quality mental health services to a college student population through individual, couple, and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation, including ethical/legal documentation, treatment planning, and diagnostic assessments as appropriate. This position will also be responsible for assisting with outreach education and prevention efforts to the UF community.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in a mental health profession (i.e., counseling, clinical/counseling psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy) from accredited graduate program.
  • Licensed to practice as a mental health professional in the state of Ohio.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mental health services in a college or university counseling center and a passion for working with college students.
  • Knowledge of and experience providing a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods within a time-limited scope of service.
  • Clinical training/skills in evidenced-based short-term modalities.
  • Excellent crisis intervention skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills; ability to be relevant and creative with outreach efforts.
  • Candidates must possess a collaborative spirit, be enthusiastic about service-delivery to college student population and be team oriented. The University Counseling Services is an integral part of a strong and cooperative division of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, couples, and group counseling/therapy to students at the University.
  • Conducts crisis assessment and intervention for urgent/walk-in appointments.
  • Provides professional consultation to all members of the University community.
  • Provides outreach, workshops, and training on various mental health and wellbeing topics as needed. Works collaboratively with Director and Assistant director on identifying outreach needs and effectively implementing programs.
  • Provides after-hours on-call crisis response as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with other university departments to ensure delivery of integrated professional services.
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and ethical documentation consistent with governing laws and ethics.
  • Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for the position.
