About The Position

Pokagon Health Services is adding a part-time Clinical Massage Therapist.  Minimum requirements are 1 year of clinical/medical massage in a clinical setting and current licensure by the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy or National Licensure. Commitment to Citizen Service: Service encompasses all aspects of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indian’s governmental operations.  Every employee shares the responsibility to provide exemplary service, dignity, and respect to all Tribal Citizens, the Tribal Council, and staff members.  To this end, all employees have an obligation to identify and report any service problems, issues, or concerns and through designated channels, initiate, recommend, and actively participate in solutions. Position Summary: Performs therapeutic massage on patients to improve circulation, promote relaxation, relieve stress, pain, injuries and aid in the ease of adjustment for chiropractors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current licensure by the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy or National Licensure required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in multiple massage modalities and therapeutic techniques. Possesses diverse manual techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical/medical massage experience in a clinical setting required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications is required.
  • Experience in documenting in an electronic health record required. EPIC EHR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish respectful, compassionate, and therapeutic environments by providing individualized and culturally appropriate care to patients.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on referrals from providers.
  • Provide various massage techniques such as deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and lymphatic drainage.
  • Treat patients with conditions such as chronic pain, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, and stress-related disorders.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient treatment records.
  • Collaborate with other professionals such as chiropractors, physicians, and advanced practitioners.
  • Communicate treatment outcomes and recommendations to referring providers.
  • Follow provider orders and treatment protocols as appropriate.
  • Provide massage in clinics, at health fairs and other community events.
  • Promote a calming environment for the patient with lighting and sound/music.
  • Adhere to infection-control policies and procedures and maintain clean linens and environment.
  • Protect patient information and abide by HIPAA regulations and professional ethical standards.
  • Stay current with evidence-based massage therapy techniques and medical research.
