About The Position

HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to tackle systemic barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services. Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating recovery. The Martin Luther King Jr. Behavioral Health Center (MLK BHC) is a program of HealthRIGHT 360 and is contracted with the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC) program. MLK BHC offers residential Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services for a maximum of 99 adult individuals, comprising 33 beds each for judicially involved men, men, and women. MLK BHC collaborates closely with other Behavioral Health Center programs to ensure a comprehensive range of services for low-income and Medi-Cal-eligible individuals. Situated on the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital campus in the Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles, the program serves residents of all Los Angeles County. The Clinical Manager oversees the day-to-day clinical operations within MLK BHC, ensuring staff deliver high-quality client-centered and culturally competent services while managing resources effectively and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field from an accredited graduate school.
  • Valid licensure from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LMFT, LPCC, LCSW.
  • 2-years post-licensure and certification in clinical supervision.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and access to registered and insured transportation preferred.
  • Experience with efficient and effective treatment and management of clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • Program and/or project management experience.
  • 3 years’ managing clinical staff experience.
  • Experience providing trauma-informed services.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, hire, and terminate staff in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Manage assigned staff.
  • Ensure that all direct reports are in compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, position expectations and performance goals, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, support, and conduct formal performance evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Identify direct reports’ strengths and weaknesses and strive to develop each team member to their fullest potential.
  • Deliver and arrange training and resources to ensure that direct reports are successful in their roles.
  • Ensure proper coverage of the program by managing work schedules and approving time away from work.
  • Deliver all communications necessary to all team members to remain current with HealthRIGHT 360’s policies and procedures and to inform them of quality-of-care concerns.
  • Maintain open communication with the manager concerning employee matters/needs, client assignment, workload distribution across the team, and seek consultation when needed.
  • Address interpersonal or team conflicts promptly and diplomatically to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Lead weekly staff meetings to discuss program updates, issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day clinical operations and coordination of various activities within the program.
  • Ensure the retention and completion of all clients.
  • Engage with community partners and funding sources to maintain effective communication, collaboration, continuity, and quality of care.
  • Ensure that clinical staff deliver services with a strength-based, trauma-informed, client-centered, and culturally competent approach, adhering to ethical and legal standards, program requirements, HealthRIGHT 360’s policies and procedures, and all regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilize a client-centered approach when making program decisions.
  • Ensure that each client receives all the services outlined in the relevant contract.
  • Manage the proper handling and transfer of documents and records.
  • Manage quality assurance of charts and treatments plans.
  • Offer clinical consultation to staff on counseling procedures, treatment methodologies, and client interventions.
  • Ensure all clinical staff complete documentation in line with program requirements and in compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
  • Review clinical documentation and provide co-signature when necessary.
  • Manage clients’ records to ensure they meet high-quality standards and are kept up to date as part of the service provision.
  • Assist the Director by ensuring that services, projects, or program stay within agreed budgetary limitations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to patient care, staff safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop strategies to minimize liability and ensure patient safety.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Understand HealthRIGHT 360’s strategic vision and find ways to implement and execute the vision at the treatment services level.
  • Provide back-up coverage for other supervisors and managers as needed and as assigned to ensure that program requirements are met.
  • Facilitate and attend meetings and development opportunities for clinical staff.
  • Complete all assigned training in a timely manner.
  • Read and respond to emails as appropriate.
  • And perform other duties as assigned.
