About The Position

The Clinical Manager utilizes independent judgment to manage and supervise nursing and BVCHD operations while on assigned shift. This role coordinates logistics involved in providing patient care, including admissions, outpatient procedures, responding to patient complaints, providing service recovery, and ensuring care is delivered in a patient & family-centered delivery model. The Clinical Manager maintains staffing levels that promote efficient, economical, and quality patient care and is responsible for activities to maximize patient flow. This position functions as an onsite administrative representative in the absence of hospital administrators.

Requirements

  • Active California RN License
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS
  • Related clinical experience
  • Demonstrates professionalism, leadership, effective communication, and initiative in all job responsibilities and all duties.
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and supervise staff.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the district health care team.
  • Must be able to withstand stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises operations of BVCHD while on shift including coordination of patient care, staff development and management, regulatory compliance, policy enforcement, and ensuring standards of nursing practice are met. Acts as a clinical resource for staff.
  • Anticipates potential problems and intervenes to minimize adverse impacts. Independently manages the resolution of issues that arise while on shift. Independently executes and manages decisions in the absence of the hospital administrator. Determines the need to contact the Administrator on Call (AOC).
  • Ensures that patient care is delivered in a manner that supports the Mission and Values of the District and promotes quality improvement, patient centered care, and interdepartmental/ interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Assigns, manages, and covers clinical staff rest periods in accordance with Meal and Rest Period policy.
  • Manages and maintains staffing levels that promote efficient, economical, and quality patient care. Takes call-offs, attempts to fill position with qualified staff, is competent in all nursing roles to assume responsibilities when needed.
  • Supports hospital census and services (which includes but not limited to: involved in ER admissions and transfers, outpatient services, Swing recruitment, and support of long term care recruitment and admissions). Manage patient flow from ER/OR/OP to admission or service. Authorize all admissions based on InterQual criteria and nursing judgement.
  • Accountability for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies to demonstrate ethical behavior.
