About The Position

The Clinical Manager II at Hospital plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of a dynamic patient care department. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across multiple service lines, including Neuro, Plastics, Orthopedics, and ENT, while managing evening, weekend, and night shift teams composed of RNs, technicians, and coordinators. As a key member of the interdisciplinary care team, the Clinical Manager II drives operational excellence, fosters staff development, and supports strategic initiatives aligned with the hospital’s mission and Magnet Recognition Program® standards. The role requires a strong foundation in clinical nursing, leadership, and process improvement, with a commitment to safety, compliance, and exceptional patient experiences. This position operates on a split/evening shift (2 PM–10 PM or 1 PM–9 PM, as needed) and is integral to maintaining seamless care delivery and organizational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of professional nursing; required at time of hire or promotion for Magnet-designated or pursuing Magnet hospitals.
  • Current, active license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas, or a valid temporary/compact license.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive clinical experience in the relevant practice area.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Clinical Manager II: Additional 2 years of supervisory or management experience (minimum 3 years total).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex operations, and drive quality improvement in a high-acuity healthcare environment.

  • Professional certification in clinical specialty or healthcare management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the patient care department, including staffing forecasts, call coverage, continuity of care planning, and on-duty responsibilities as the charge nurse.
  • Provides direct patient care as needed while ensuring adherence to clinical standards and quality outcomes.
  • Leads and develops a diverse team of RNs, technicians, and coordinators, focusing on recruitment, retention, performance management, and professional growth.
  • Collaborates with physicians, department leaders, and business partners to advance organizational goals and support strategic initiatives.
  • Champions a culture of continuous improvement through interdisciplinary evaluation of care processes, outcomes, and patient-centered initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with Texas Board of Nursing regulations, Memorial Hermann policies, and all applicable safety and quality standards.
  • Manages budgetary, time, and supply resources effectively to maintain productivity and service quality.
  • Promotes professional development through mandatory education, skills competency, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Models and upholds the hospital’s service standards by delivering compassionate, personalized, and efficient care to patients and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
