About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at Ascension Saint Agnes in Baltimore, MD. This role involves determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and monitoring/operating instrumentation. The technologist will make technical decisions, prepare and test reagents, report accurate test results, and perform preventive maintenance and quality control. Additionally, they will manage testing bench supplies, assist with specimen processing, and maintain a safe work environment with appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • Proficient with computers
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
