About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a PRN Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, TN. This role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures, monitoring and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical decisions, preparing and testing reagents, reporting test results, performing maintenance and quality control, managing supplies, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position is on a PRN (as needed) basis with no set schedule.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• Proficient with computers
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

• 1 or more years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) generalist
• 1 or more years of experience in blood bank
• ASCP or AMT certification
• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
