About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team in Raritan, NJ. This role involves determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and monitoring/troubleshooting instrumentation. The trainee will also prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents, report accurate test results, perform preventative maintenance and quality control, and maintain a safe work environment. Specimen processing and bench supply replenishment may also be required. New graduates are welcome as full training is provided.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

• 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• ASCP or AMT certification
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
