About The Position

Mayo Clinic is hiring Clinical Laboratory Technologists/Scientists in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology. The role involves performing analyses on blood, tissue, and body-fluid specimens to help healthcare providers diagnose, assess the prognosis of, and treat patients. Testing takes place in specialized laboratories and may involve skilled manual techniques or automated testing with sophisticated instrumentation. The position may include operating and maintaining instruments, troubleshooting assays, evaluating test accuracy, helping interpret results, and supporting laboratory operations. Employees use multiple computer systems to retrieve information and report results, may work with minimal supervision, and may assist with specimen collection. The work requires strict adherence to safety protocols for infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards, as well as accuracy under time constraints and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, changing environment. Scheduling may include off-shifts, holidays, on-call assignments, and weekends. Team members are expected to foster an inclusive work environment and respect colleagues with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Employees hired into this position are asked to complete two years in the role before becoming eligible to transfer to other Mayo Clinic positions. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or transfer, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Applicants must be graduates or students graduating within three months with a qualifying bachelor's degree. The CLT track requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a biological science. The CLS track requires a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, or a bachelor's degree plus a qualifying certificate in one of those fields recognized by NAACLS; a HEW certificate may substitute for the specified degree. Applicants must provide a resume, cover letter, and transcripts or a detailed international equivalency evaluation in the application. Internal candidates must also provide their three most recent performance appraisals.
