About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Technologist to join their team in Tampa, FL. This role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures in a molecular clinical laboratory, ensuring the acceptability of specimens, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, and reporting accurate test results to deliver quality patient care. The Technologist will also be responsible for preparing and evaluating reagents, performing preventative maintenance and quality control, managing supplies, and assisting with specimen processing. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology Molecular
  • State License

Nice To Haves

  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
