About The Position
NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist specializing in Microbiology/Generalist for day shifts. This role is crucial for providing essential laboratory services to the community south of 14th Street. The position involves working in a Microbiology laboratory with a focus on molecular, serological, and bacteriology testing. Responsibilities include maintaining inventory, ensuring quality control compliance, and assisting with processing send-outs. The role may also involve cross-training in other clinical laboratory areas for generalist coverage. This is a full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, and includes rotating weekend and holiday coverage. A competitive sign-on bonus is available, with new graduates eligible. Experiential bonuses are also offered based on experience.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or equivalent.
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department.
- If pending a clinical laboratory technologist license, must obtain license within 6 months of hire.
Nice To Haves
- ASCP certification
- Prior Microbiology lab technologist experience
Responsibilities
- Perform primarily molecular, with limited serological and bacteriology testing in the Microbiology laboratory.
- Maintain inventory and ensure quality control compliance.
- Assist with processing send-outs associated with laboratory operations.
- Provide generalist coverage in other clinical areas of the laboratory as needed through cross-training.
