About The Position

The level II Clinical Laboratory Technologist performs, evaluates, and reports technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens used to diagnose and treat disease. The role follows established procedures to maintain laboratory quality control and comply with professional standards of practice. The position is based in Hollywood, Florida, works three days per week on the evening shift, and requires every-other-weekend work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; an associate’s degree with five or more years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Bachelor’s degree is required to assess competency.
Minimum of three years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Florida State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license (TN) or Clinical Laboratory Supervisor license (SU) in the area of responsibility.
Intermediate knowledge of laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
Intermediate knowledge of laboratory information systems.
Ability to relate and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Critical-thinking and effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

Perform accurate and appropriate testing of specimens according to established laboratory protocols and procedures.
Evaluate and report test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.
Plan work and complete job responsibilities efficiently and productively.
Assess the competency of team members.
Manage resources effectively, including productivity, supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Instruct and observe student technologists as needed.
Follow laboratory quality-control procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.
Serve as a resource to laboratory staff and other clinical staff.
Serve as Charge Technologist.
