About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at Ascension St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. This role is crucial in performing vital components of clinical lab science in a high-volume, production-based environment. The position involves determining specimen acceptability, performing technical procedures, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, and reporting accurate test results to ensure quality patient care. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong communication and organizational skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Nice To Haves

• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
• 1 year of more of grossing experience in clinical lab setting
• ASCP or AMT certification
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
