About The Position

Arcetyp LLC is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician to support the Government in Japan. This is an on-site position with one opening in Iwakuni and one in Yokosuka. The role involves performing a wide range of clinical laboratory tests, operating automated instrumentation, handling specimens, maintaining quality control, and complying with various healthcare regulations and standards. The technician will also be responsible for training government employees, operating healthcare IT systems, and adhering to HIPAA privacy and security policies. This position requires a strong understanding of safety procedures, patient rights, and applicable laws and regulations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is also required.

Requirements

  • Possess and maintain one of the following: A current certification and registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (MLT-ASCP); OR current certification and registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Medical Technologists (MLT-AMT).
  • HCW shall be in good standing and under no sanction or suspension by the Federal Government.
  • Possess and maintain current certification in either the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Maintain good communication skills with patients and other health care personnel.
  • Ability to pass all background/suitability checks.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Min. Citizenship Status Required: U.S Citizenship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, and blood bank.
  • Calculate test results and measure prescribed quantities of samples.
  • Observe and notice pertinent details of specimens under microscopic study.
  • Perform a wide variety of laboratory tests manually or using automated instrumentation.
  • Evaluate information against measurable criteria during test performance.
  • Perform precise and accurate laboratory testing according to established procedures.
  • Receive written requisitions for routine and special laboratory tests.
  • Set up and adjust laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Obtain laboratory specimens directly from patients by venipuncture.
  • Add reagents or indicator solutions and subject specimens to various laboratory operations.
  • Prepare slides for microscopic analysis.
  • Observe test reactions, changes of color, or formation of precipitates.
  • Study or subject treated specimens to automatic analyzing equipment for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Record test results and file reports in CHCS/AHLTA.
  • Prepare specimens for transport or mail out.
  • Prepare biological waste for proper disposal.
  • Participate in and perform prescribed Quality Control (QC)/College of American Pathology (CAP) programs.
  • Comply with standards of The Joint Commission, applicable laws, and governmental regulations.
  • Provide training and/or direction to supporting government employees.
  • Operate and manipulate automated systems such as CHCS, AHLTA, ADS, Essentris, and Clinical Information System (CIS).
  • Participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions.
  • Comply with HIPAA privacy and security policies.
  • Obtain/maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) in accordance with DOD and MTF policy/instruction, as applicable.
  • Maintain documentation of all treatment provided and prepare required records and reports.
  • Practice aseptic techniques and comply with infection control guidelines.
  • Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.
  • Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care.
  • Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights.
  • Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties.
  • Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, Department of Defense, Department of Navy, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and MTF instructions and policies.
